Identifying Mesothelioma Cases

!±8± Identifying Mesothelioma Cases

The rare cancerous form of mesothelioma is that which develops from the protective lining along the internal organs of a person's body. An individual will most likely develop the cancerous disease in their lungs, abdominal cavity, heart or testis; however symptoms of the malady can take up to 50 years to surface because the disease often lies dormant from anywhere between 15 to 50 years.

The most common cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos, and those who most commonly develop the disease are persons that have been exposed to asbestos on the job or at home through inhalation of the substance. Any type of exposure to even the most minimal amount of the fibrous material can lead to the formerly rare type of cancer that is known as mesothelioma. Any type of contact with these dust particles - even washing the clothing of a person who has been exposed to asbestos - could lead to your later development of the cancerous disease.

Asbestos is particularly dangerous to people because it is easily overlooked. Many individuals who are frequently exposed to the hazardous material are not even aware that they have come in contact with it. For example, the substance exists in some brake linings, insulation materials, flooring materials, brake pads, roof shingles and cement. Therefore, construction workers and car mechanics run a great risk of being exposed to the material.

It can also exist in certain water and food supplies as well as commercial and private buildings. Even if you are not in an environment that breeds this type of bad substance, just being around others who are habitually exposed to it can be equally as dangerous to you.

One of the most frightening facts about asbestos exposure and development of mesothelioma is the dormancy of symptoms, as well as the similarity in symptoms to other less threatening diseases. When a disease lies dormant in a person it means that it exists in the individual's body but it has yet to show signs of its appearance, meaning that a person could live with a potentially dangerous disease for years without even knowing they have it.

Of further concern is the fact that many of the cancer's symptoms are very similar to other lesser ailments that may not be cause for much alarm among suffers of such conditions. For example, common indicators of the disease are a shortness of breath (caused from the buildup of fluid between the lungs and the chest wall), pain in the chest and a loss of weight. These symptoms are so general and non-threatening compared to many others that they could easily be overlooked or pushed aside by someone silently suffering from a much more serious condition.

The United States has not yet made the screening for mesothelioma caused by asbestos mandatory. Therefore, the only definitive way to learn whether or not you suffer from this disease is through an X-ray and CT scan of the chest cavity. However, considering the fact that most of the cancer's symptoms - sneezing, wheezing, fatigue and achiness - are symptomatic of the common cold many people do not think twice about them. Rather than taking themselves to the doctor for medical examination and X-ray most people simply dismiss their ailments, unassumingly believing that they are not in any danger.

The prognosis for cancerous cases of mesothelioma is not good. While treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy and surgery exist, they are not enough to prevent the ultimate deterioration brought on by the disease. In order to protect yourself against this dangerous disease it is important to take every precaution possible when working or living in any environment that you believe may be compromising to your health. Hiring a personal injury lawyer who can defend your case is also a crucial step that should be taken after you have been diagnosed. In many cases, the help of a legal professional is just what you need to gain maximum compensation that will help cover your medical bills and lifestyle fees after you have been diagnosed.

History Of Tea

!±8± History Of Tea

The history of tea is believed to go back to 2737 BC. Shen Nung, the second emperor of China, a scholar, the father of agriculture and the inventor of Chinese herbal medicine, discovered tea when tea leaves blew into his cup of boiled water.

Another Chinese legend that spread along with Buddhism credits the Indian monk and founder of the Zen sect of Buddhism Bodhidharma, who traveled to China in 520, with the discovery of tea. It is believed that he became angry that he was falling asleep during meditation and, hence, cut off his eyelids. At the spot where his eyelids fell, tea bushes sprung--but history has tea mentioned in Chinese writing in 222 AD and cited as Erh Ya in a Chinese dictionary in 350 AD.

The medicinal benefits of tea and its refreshing effect were being spread by the third century, and during the reign of the Tang Dynasty tea became China's national drink. In 780 AD, Lu Yu, the Tea Saint, wrote Ch'a Ching, the first book on tea, in which he described the various methods of tea cultivation and preparation in ancient China.

Yensei, a Buddhist monk, introduced the tea in Japan from China. Tea took hold of Japan, in 1191, when the Zen priest Eisai and the Father of Tea of Japan, brought back from China powdered tea and tea seeds.

As the demand rose, Chinese farmers began to cultivate tea. During the Ming Dynasty, merchants roasted their leaves to prevent rotting of leaves. Leaves were left in air to oxidize produced black tea for export. The Chinese still drink the native green tea.

The Portuguese Jesuit missionary, Father Jasper de Cruz, in 1560, was the first European to personally encounter tea and write about it. Portugal opened up the sea routes to China as early as 1515. Tea had a high cost in The Hague, which made it the domain of the wealthy. Milk was first added to both tea and coffee by the Dutch. Tea was first served in Dutch inns. As the amount of imported tea increased, the price reduced and it was available in little stores.

Peter Stuyvesant brought tea first to the colonists of America in New Amsterdam, renamed New York by the English, in 1650. Around 1655 the Dutch introduced the word "tea," then pronounced tay, and the beverage to England. The pronunciation tee was predominant after the late 18th century. It was first regarded more as a medicine than a fashionable drink. Then tea became a drink of the rich in small teacups. In 1662, the tea tradition was established in England by Charles II and his wife Portuguese Infanta Princess Catherine de Braganza. The territories of Tangier and Bombay brought as dowry by her were used as base of operation of The John Company founded by Elizabeth I. England's huge demand caused a trade deficit with China. The British set up productive plantations using seeds smuggled from China in parts of colonial India.

In 1840, Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, devised the afternoon tea. In 1904, Richard Blechynden introduced iced tea to the St. Louis World's Fair when the crowd did not gather at his hot tea booth. In 1980, the tea bag was discovered when tea packed in small silk bags were dropped into hot water. Thomas J. Lipton designed a four-sided tea bag called the "flo-thru" tea.

Almost 5,000 years ago Shen Nung first sipped tea; now there are more than 3,000 varieties and it is the most widely consumed beverage in the world.

Chun Mee Tea - A Chinese Green Tea

!±8± Chun Mee Tea - A Chinese Green Tea

Chun mee, less commonly spelled zhen mei, and also sometimes called mei cha, is a variety of Chinese green tea. The name, which is sometimes concatenated to chunmee, translates to "precious eyebrows", which reflects the fact that the dry leaves of this tea are formed into small curves resembling eyebrows. This particular variety of green tea is often available for a very reasonable price, even in batches of considerable quality.

Flavor and aroma:

Chun mee tea is characterized by its pronounced tangy flavor. It is considerably more sour than most green teas. This sourness, while it is often viewed as a desirable characteristic, can become overwhelming if the tea is brewed improperly. With this tea, more than other pan-fired Chinese teas, it is careful to watch both the temperature of the water and the length of steeping: all green teas are best brewed with water well below boiling point (160-180F or 71-82C), but in the case of this tea, the lower temperature is particularly important to avoid an unpleasant acidity in the brewed cup. The steeping length is a matter of personal taste, and also depends on the amount of leaf used. With any good loose-leaf green tea, the leaf will be good for multiple infusions.

The aroma profile of chunmee is widely variable. It usually has a noticeable but slight smokiness to it, considerably less smoky than a typical gunpowder green tea. In many respects, its aroma is typical for a pan-fired Chinese green tea, with some grassy tones and a noticeable toasty quality. However, chunmee is quite diverse, and some batches have noticeable floral, fruity, or nutty qualities in the aroma.

Young hyson and chun mee:

Chun mee is technically the highest grade of young hyson green tea. Young hyson is a variety of green tea which is the highest grade of hyson tea. Young hyson is sometimes referred to as "lucky dragon tea". Because the lower grades of young hyson are rarely sold in the United States and other western countries, the terms young hyson and chun mee are sometimes used interchangeably.

Regional and other variation among different teas of this style:

Chun mee is not commonly divided into well-recognized named varieties, but often, certain companies will select special batches of it and give them names. Chun mee also varies considerably based on the region in which it is produced, as the unique climate and soil conditions in different regions translate into different flavor and aroma profiles of the final tea. It is produced in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui, Yunnan, and Hunan provinces, and possibly others. Young hyson tea is also produced in Sri Lanka.

Organic chunmee is now widely available, and many tea companies are beginning to offer this tea in fair trade certified forms as well. One company even offers a decaffeinated form. Chunmee is generally only available as loose-leaf tea, with one notable exception: Tazo envy, although it is not widely known, is a green tea of this style.
